Catalyst Education of Colorado is a high school with a small student-teacher ratio for students in Boulder County and along the Front Range. Before Catalyst EDU, there were essentially four high school options: 1. Experiential, or “Outdoor ed,” types of schools; 2. Mainstream schools, with 30-35 students per class; 3. Traditionally-structured alternative schools, with 10-15 students per class; and 4. On-line schools, where the student completes pre-packaged work. Catalyst EDU brings an entirely new concept to the table: one-on-one personally rigorous classes, with an experienced and licensed teacher, creating classes from scratch, based on the student’s strengths and interests.
Further, in other schools personal contact time with a teacher comes at the student’s initiative, or in a pull-out situation, as the teacher is still supervising the rest of the class. In Catalyst the teacher moves from student to student, working one-on-one with each. A student is usually in class for 90 minutes, sharing time with two other students, so the average amount of undivided-attention that a student receives from a teacher is approximately 30 minutes.

"Not only is this the first and only high school that worked for Sarah, it’s the most focused I’ve seen her in twelve years of education.”
-- Chris, father of a current student
