Catalyst Academy - Igniting achievement in resilient teens
"We love helping kids. Our staff has decades of experience working with all kinds of teens in a variety of educational and therapeutic settings. Nothing satisfies us more than helping adolescents regain confidence and develop the desire and the academic and social skills they need to step out and take on the world."

Is my Child a Good Fit for Catalyst?

Catalyst may work particularly well for:

The student who is “floating along” in high school, “doing fine,” but who would thrive, if given the opportunity to be in the “driver’s seat”
The student who has experienced a traumatic loss or has been adopted
The student who has a career, an athletic or musical talent, or a health-related issue that makes attending a regular school difficult
The student who loves to read or loves to learn, but does not like school
The student who is transitioning from a wilderness program, residential school, or a home schooling situation
The student who is extremely bright, talented, or gifted and feels personal academic needs are not being met
The student who deals with issues such as depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder
The student who is ready to take college classes before completing high school
The student who has tried three or four other high schools and never found the right fit
The student who recently graduated from high school and does not feel adequately prepared for college
The student who wants personal attention included with the “individualized studies” package

What are the Basic Elements of the Catalyst Program?
• Our youth services involve an array of activities designed to help students make productive use of time, as an alternative to destructive social behaviors. Most of these activities are options. All youth services help students build developmental assets and essential skills that extend beyond the scope of general education.
• Our high school program provides individualized instruction for every student with an environment that is welcoming, healing, supportive and rigorous, coupled with the external environment filled with valuable resources and meaningful experiences.
Wellness is the foundation on which solid academics are built. Therapy is not required for all Catalyst students. However, for some students it is important. Simply stated: we build your program to suit your needs.
