Catalyst Academy - Igniting achievement in resilient teens
"We love helping kids. Our staff has decades of experience working with all kinds of teens in a variety of educational and therapeutic settings. Nothing satisfies us more than helping adolescents regain confidence and develop the desire and the academic and social skills they need to step out and take on the world."

How will Students be Assessed so that I know my Child is Progressing at Catalyst?
Catalyst engages in a wide spectrum of on-going assessments. We do this in ways that are interesting and of perceived value to the student and do not disrupt the learning atmosphere, which is so impotant to maintain. During the intake process and before the end of the first session, a variety of assessments related to social emotional health and well-being and a variety of academic skills will be taken for baseline measurements. Assessments will be both quantitative and qualitative, and involve computers, paper and pencil, observation and demonstration. All assessments are intended to be repeated at various intervals throughout the student’s Catalyst experience. The frequency varies depending upon the purpose and type of assessment being conducted.

Does Catalyst work well for Students with Disabilities?
This depends largely on the nature of the disability. We design accommodations to fit your student’s personal needs, so that your student receives an optimal and equitable education. Part of each student’s tuition pays for opportunities and services unique to that student, within our “cafeteria of options.” Catalyst works well for many students whose disabilities are related to social, emotional, and some mental-health related challenges. Also, we contract with a direct learning center to support students with some mild learning disabilities. Catalyst is particularly well suited for students with:
• Depression or bipolar disorders;
• Posttraumatic stress disorder;
• Eating disorders or self-mutilation;
• Agoraphobia, specific or social phobia, panic or generalized anxiety disorder;
• Thoughts of personal harm or suicide (with no recent or serious attempts)
