How Many Students are in each Class at Catalyst?
Usually one -- you! All our classes are custom designed. Do not confuse us with an on-line school. Our classes are not prepackaged. You create the class from scratch, with guidance from a teacher. You choose which books to read! You choose what to research, what kind of a project you are going to make, or what type of person you are going to interview. You choose when you are going to write a paper, and you can pick the subject. And the best part is, you get your teacher’s undivided attention! There are always a few other students around, but not many. And they are working on their own classes. Some classes at Catalyst do have more than one student. These are called “intensives.” They usually have 10-12 students and last between five and 10 days. No lie: some intensives are too intense for some students.
What if I Want to Attend Catalyst but also Want to Have a Job?
Be cautious when choosing a job while attending Catalyst. You may encounter an employer who does not care whether you are a high school student and wants to increase your hours or responsibilities which may adversely affect your school work. Also, it may be difficult to maintain a job with a work schedule that changes week to week. While we can be flexible about when you take your classes, we are not a “night school,” so a full-time day job may not work with your academic schedule.
