What does it Mean when Catalyst Says “We Build Assets?”
At Catalyst, we help students build positive attitudes and constructive actions, including good use of time, commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies, and positive identity. Developing assets takes time and work, but at Catalyst you’ll find the process fulfilling and the skills relevant to life after high school. Research shows that teens who develop more positive internal assets become happier, healthier, more successful adults.
Why is Catalyst Considered a “Community?”
The heart and soul of Catalyst are the people. Our students, mentors, teachers, activity coordinators, counselors and hundreds of others outside the school support everyone in the program. Recognizing our commitment to community as well as maintaining a sense of mutual support, is essential to the success of Catalyst. Here, we will work together to help you achieve great things and to feel good about who you are and what you accomplish.
Does Catalyst Work for Students who have Children?
Yes, if you can arrange for 15 to 20 hours of daycare for your child each week, Catalyst is definitely a good place for you to be. We have ideas that may help you find affordable childcare, but currently we do not provide childcare in Catalyst. Your child’s health and well-being is critical. Primarily that means that you must have safe, nurturing care for the child while you are at Catalyst. Also, important to your child’s future and well-being is your education. Hopefully, our flexible schedule can serve both of these needs.
